We are now using the Trueskill Rating System developed by Microsoft.  It is the same system used for Xbox Live.

I'm not even going to attempt to explain how it works because it involves a lot of advanced math.  But if you are so inclined, the details can be found in these reseources: For our purposes, all you need to know is that wins and losses are still the only factors that count.  Score no longer matters (no more shutout bonuses).  I have re-processed every game in the CTA database (4 years worth of data, over 11,000 games) to arrive at the current ratings we have now; they are displayed on the CTA site.  The default rating is set to 1000.
