Trying to gauge interest (if any) in a summer GO league. What clans would want to participate in one?

I think there would have to be at a very minimum 6 teams, but 8 would be preferable.

Thoughts/prayers?

I am there if I could get drafted into a team. Are there plenty of players who aren't in a clan? Sure.

This summer will be the 15th anniversary of apl99go, too. We probably could use APL99GO and various official GO league maps throughout the tournament.. Maybe the home team can choose between three community selected versions of GO each week. Maybe you would like to nominate K0rrupt's APL07Pub map if that map get enough votes, or puffyfish's miraculous fix (SPL2010, if I remember correctly and there's that bottom corridor edit in SGLGO2011) and these maps could go through a nomination process.

An official 2014 GO map might even be worked out as the singular map in the end, though.

I think for this league, there should be "volunteer refs" instead a ref staff. For example, those playing during a 4v4 (or whatever the structure will be) shouldn't be able to ref their own games because they won't be able to dedicate their time entirely to the match and officiating it. Late pause or late catching lagouts can change the outcome in GO.

Instead, organize many volunteer refs, primarily from the league itself as long as a player can create the game and commit the next 30-45 minutes of his time reffing. Learning the commands and following a small set of principles (such as not typing any commands that will alter the fairness of gameplay) is simple and straightforward.

With the ease of moderating a game, reffing can be done without an official staff.

I agree, I would also volunteer to help with reffing.
