Here the deal, any money spent, should be to bring in new people to play... not to award players that are returning just to win some money. Why do we continue to have tournaments that are 3v3, 4v4? How are we going to grow playing games like that? We need to look forward to a future, not backtrack to old tournament styles that don't work to bring in new players.

Suggestions? because I think this tournament is running because nothing else has worked.

If you read the first two pages, there are a few options that are *free*, that can bring in new players.

I don't believe maps have been decided yet Ford, but they will be Go-like maps.

Go will be an option it seems, but probably not picked much if it is 3v3. It'll probably be the largest map of all the choices by the sounds of it.

Also, from what I've heard, 4v4 will be an option as well if both teams have enough for that and agree to it.

Will the season format be the standard 2 games per week and each team playing each other once or twice throughout the course of the season, and then a playoff bracket?

if only 4 to 8 teams sign up, how short/long will the season be?

just trying to get an idea of how much of a time investment this would be.

i like the idea a lot btw - at this point, i can think of few options other than $$$ as a way to motivate / advertise for the game.

I'm with Odo on this one. I think its a creative way to attract more players. However, I think we should discuss the lifespan of registration period: if you want to attract new players, you will need to give the time to practice first. (I'd love to join the competition, but I know for a fact I wont reach 8th place because I have 6 years of rust to shake off).

Maybe this would be an idea; but i dont see if it can be checked so no1 will cheat/smurt but:
- 1 out of the 3 players HAS to be a new player (total noob: as in logged in for the first time 2 months ago or later). This way you get your better/actice player to actively seek for new players within their own networks and chances of winning for new players are a lot higher, thus this will generate more buzz and your goals will be reached.
- other idea might be: you sign up as individual and get drafted into a team (and the teams are equal strengths?)

But I assume die hard arcers dont want to play with a noob like me in their team, so maybe you need to run another competiton at the same time, pro's only. But then again, i dont know what to do with the prize money.

Also; instead of handing out the money after 1 tournament, you might think about winning multiple tourneys (and all kind of game formats) first before actually gaining money. Will also expand the life span of a tourney, maybe create a noob-tourney, and people that join later might be able to practice more and get better and still have a chance to win some.

Last; thanks to all the people that are trying to keep this game alive. I've really enjoyed my first week. But yeah, we need more players. Definitaly on Euro Time zones Smile
